Unable to Install Xinet Pilot 20.x on macOS Catalina or later

Overview

When attempting to install Xinet Pilot 20.x on macOS Catalina or later to connect with Xinet 2020.x, you cannot open the installer. macOS provides an alert stating, "‘Xinet Pilot’ can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information."

Solution

Due to the new security features added within the more recent releases of macOS, you may encounter issues with macOS being unable to scan the application. This security check results in the application failing to open or install.

The Development Team addressed this trouble within the recent releases of Xinet Pilot 21.x.

If you are unable to update and require Pilot 20.x, you can use the workaround below to bypass the security check manually:

  1. Locate the Xinet Pilot Installer within Finder.
  2. Right-click the installer and select “Open.”
  3. The prompt will appear as before but will include an “Open” option:

  4. Select this option to proceed with the installation of Xinet Pilot.
