Installing Xinet Pilot on a Windows Client Machine

Overview

The following instructions are for installing a Xinet Pilot for the first time on a local Windows machine. Once installed, the Pilot icon is displayed in the system tray on a Windows machine.

Prerequisites

Login credentials to Xinet Portal/Pilot.

 

Solution

To Install the Xinet Pilot on a Windows machine, follow these steps:

  1. Download Xinet Pilot, two options are available:
    • from the Xinet server:
      1. On your Windows network, find the server running Xinet 19.1 (You may need to ask your administrator or Support for help).
      2. Follow the instructions that are on the Mount the Xinet volume using SMB article.
      3. Connect with the following credentials:
        User name: macfiles
        Password: (leave the password blank)
      4. Download the file XinetPilotInstaller.exe from the Xinet volume to your computer.
    • If you're an Authorized Xinet Integrator, download xinet-client-win-pilot-<version>-release.exe.zip archive from the AXI portal.

  2. Once downloaded, right-click on the file and Run as Administrator.
  3. You may receive a security warning, click on Run.

  4. The setup wizard will launch, click on Next.

  5. Review the End Users License Agreement. Click on I accept the terms in the License Agreement, then click on Next.

  6. Click on Install, then Finish.

Testing

The installer finishes successfully.

Note: before the Xinet Pilot is fully operational, it needs to be configured with the Xinet server URL.
