Creating and Editing Groups on Servers Without Active Directory

Overview

Creating new Xinet groups and editing membership for existing groups are similar activities with similar options.

This article provides the process of creating/editing groups in Xinet.


Process

To create or edit a group, please follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Volumes/Users > Groups tab.

  2. Based on what you intend to do, please choose and execute one of the following points.

    • Creating a new group: Click the New Group tab and enter the name in the Group Name field.

    • Editing an existing group: Click the Edit Group tab and choose the relevant group from the pop-up Group Menu list. If an asterisk appears next to a group name, it means that the group has a sub-administrator.

  3. Existing Xinet users appear in the Users list. Click on user names and use the Add> button to add them to the group. Similarly, select and use the <Remove button to remove a member from the group membership list.

    Depending on the number of users on your system, you may have to use a pop-up alphabetical-range selector to find users.

    When creating a new group, you also have an option to copy a group's settings to the new group. Use the Copy Group drop-down menu and select an existing group to do so.

  4. When you are satisfied with your settings, click on the Add Group button when creating a new group or click on the Submit button when editing an existing group.
